The 2026 Winter Photography Show

The Fair Haven Arts Center Winter Photography Show was a great success. After rescheduling the show from the previous weekend where the wind chill and temperature reached 20 below, the sun came out and melted some snow on the arts center roof and people were able to enjoy the wonderful photographs reflecting winter in our area. Many thanks to our photography show judge, Kyle Meddaugh, of https://www.onephotophoto.com/ for his thoughtful comments and selection of the ribbon winners. The photographers are not known to the judge until after he makes his selections.

Mckayla Long was a first time entry at the arts center and won 4 ribbons in two different categories including for place winner and people’s choice  award for her photograph “Winter's Gone By”

Mckayla told us that she is from Sterling and graduated from Hannibal High School in 2016. She has always loved taking photos of things she found interesting, but her first real experience with photography came in high school when she took a photography class and used a DSLR camera for the first time. Her art teacher, Mr. Mahan, taught her so much about photography and how to use Photoshop and Lightroom to enhance her work. Mckayla’s grandma  found the FH Arts Center Photography competition on Facebook and told her about it! She is  inspired by things that often go unnoticed. She loves to find beauty in the details people don’t usually see. Mckayla is  especially drawn to wildlife and architectural structures. Her favorite thing to do is grab my camera, hop in her car, and  drive around looking for anything that catches her eye or might make a great photograph. That’s how  she took o most of the photos she submitted to the art show. Sometimes she drives down roads she has traveled a thousand times, and on the thousand-and-first trip, she finally notices something special.
Other ribbon winners include:
Kaia Meddaugh won First Place won first place in Landscapes for “Sweet Sensation”
Second Place in Landscapes for “Frost on the Cornfield”, by Mark    Giovannetti

Jim D’Angleo won Third Place Landscapes for “Follow Me!”
