We have some exciting events planned for 2018! Here's a summary -- we'll keep you updated with more details as we get closer to each event.
On Friday, May 18, we will kick off the season & preview of our opening show with a "Member's Reception" from 5-7 pm. During this event we would like to recognize the support of all our members, give members a chance to meet & socialize with each other and also welcome potential new members.
Following this, on Saturday May 19 is the opening of our first show "Art in Bloom", featuring themes of flowers, gardening , and landscapes. The show runs from May 19 - May 27. All media is acceptable (e.g. watercolor, oil, acrylic, photography, fabric art) and are welcome to participate -- show hours and other details to follow.
Our next show is something new - it's called Fair Haven Retrospective, and it will run from June 30- July 8. While we still have people in our midst who remember the stories and have access to photographs of the past, we would like to pull them together into an artist's rendition of Fair Haven through the years - to capture the essence of what Fair Haven was like in "yesteryear". Some artists will be capturing on canvas images from memories and/or photographs; some will be capturing stories in written form. And we are also planning some video tapes of interviews with folks who remember life as it was "back in the day". We are also accepting photographs. We would like to make this an annual event, starting out this year with limited material, and building on it each year. All media acceptable and are welcome to participate- more details will follow.
Also, in July, we are hosting a private show called "Storm warnings Continue", from July 20 -29. This show will feature the work of local artist, Deale Hutton, who participated in a similar show in Nova Scotia. Deale will have several other local artists joining her -- more on this to follow.
In August we will be hosting our "Heartbeat" show from August 18-26. All are welcome to participate and artwork in all media will be accepted. The theme for this show is living things (People, animals -- i.e. anything with a heartbeat!).
In the Fall we once again will be sponsoring the Leaf Peeper Show. This year the dates will be October 13-14 (to give a little more separation from the Witches Parade at the end of the month). All media and all themes acceptable.
Although we are not having a separate student show this year, we encourage all our local students to participate in the regular shows - our regular shows are open to all ages. We also decided not to do a "Lake Effect" show this year, as our two new shows in July will keep us more than busy!. However, anyone with a "Lake" themed picture is welcome to enter it in the Leaf Peeper show, as the Leaf Peeper show is open to all themes.
