SUNY Oswego English Instructor, Charles Itzin, leads this bi monthly workshop.  Given a suggested topic or one of the students’ own choice, participants bring their work and read to the group in a supportive and learning atmosphere.  With helpful suggestions and feedback the writers are able to hone their skills.  Workshop is ongoing, and participants can join at any time.  email us at fairhavenart@gmail.com for the Zoom link if interested in joining this group.

Paint with Friends - Open Studio                       Pat Hanford/Lee Hanford                                    Thursdays    11-2 pm               
Our "Paint with Friends" workshop is back.  All Mediums welcomed.  No experience is necessary.  Bring your watercolor or acrylic paints, etc. and supplies and join us for an Open Studio. . Some basic supplies are available for those who wish to try out painting. 
 Pre-registration is suggested to ensure we have a seat for you.  Please email us at fairhavenart@gmail.com if you plan to attend as class size is limited so we can be socially distant. If you'd like to attend but haven't been to this group before, please  email us or contact Pat Hanford at 315 532-0947.

Stitch Circle                                     Amy Cramer                           Wednesdays    10:00- 1:00 pm            Meeting At Fair Haven Library
Join us for a comfortable gathering where you can work on your individual project. No matter your skill level, we welcome all who crochet, quilt, embroider, needle punch, rug hook, sew or knit...in other words, if your fiber project is portable-- bring it along and join us.   Class size is limited.  Please contact Amy Cramer at amyecramer@gmail.com  or at 315-871-7733 if interested in joining.

Wood Carving Class ​                                            John Pupparo                                         Tuesdays,    POSTPONED
                                                                                                                                                          

John will teach you how to bring out a character from a simple block of wood.  He's planned the class for three two-hour sessions..   You can register by emailing us with your contact information at fairhavenart@gmail.com. If you have any questions, you may contact John at 315 529-0440.  
Cost:  $75 non-members, $70 members -  includes cost of materials

Woodworking Beginners Wood Block Print Class ​                      John Pupparo                 POSTPONED   TBA
This class is designed to introduce the individual to the basics of carving techniques of wood block printing carving techniques. It incorporates methods of design, layout of design, types of wood, tools used, various ways to carve the wood block.
Appropriate 16 + for adult class    Ages. 12 – 16, permission from instructor is requested.
Combination Beginner/ Intermediate level. Prior students welcome to work on continuing skills, and experiences.

Class size limit is 8 students.
Class cost is $100.00 non-members $90/members
Materials cost is 10.00 each student. Tools are provided.

Instructor is John Pupparo. An experienced wood carver of approximately 20 plus years. Using classic hand carving gouges and techniques. Low relief, High relief and In The Round carving. Using mostly Bass wood (Linden) as the carving wood of choice.

During these times of uncertainty and upheaval, where “safer at home” has been our guiding principle, do you miss connecting with others in a meaningful way?  Are there philosophical questions you would like to explore?  Or are there issues/concerns more related to daily life that you would like input on from others?  In this open forum, with ground rules for respectful interaction, a wide range of ideas for discussion is invited.  Each session we will generate a list of possible topics and vote on one to discuss for that week.  Suggested donation:  Members: $2 each session Non-Members $5 each session.

Black-capped Chicadee - Watercolor Painting                           Bob Jones                    Saturday, June 11th   10:00 am to 1:00 pm
This class is designed for individuals that have never painted, done a little, or done some but could use some guidance. The overall theme of the class is to have fun and be creative.  Watercolor paints, brushes, paper and related resources will be provided for the class. If you have your own paints and related items feel free to bring them.
 
No drawing experience or artistic skill required. Through demonstrations and individual, hands-on help, you will learn some basic watercolor techniques. Topics presented in the class will include composition, color theory, watercolor painting techniques, vignette, and masking. The class will work on one or two small paintings that will be either 5 x 7 or 6 x 6. You will guided through the steps to complete the finished painting on Arches140 lb cold pressed paper and Winsor Newton Cotman watercolor pigments.

Adirondack Landscapes - Watercolor Painting                           Bob Jones                    Thursday, June 23rd   1:00 pm to 4:00 pm
This class is designed for individuals that have never painted, done a little, or done some but could use some guidance. The overall theme of the class is to have fun and be creative.  Watercolor paints, brushes, related resources and techniques will help you create a unique painting. Techniques in this class will include instruction on a basic wash, composition, clouds, water, shadows and reflections. A color wheel will be available and demonstrated to help in your selection to create a harmonious color scheme.
 
Through demonstrations and individual, hands-on help, you will learn some basic watercolor techniques. The class will work on either 5 x 7 or 8 x 10 watercolor paper. You will be guided through the steps to complete the finished painting. Feel free to bring you own photograph or sketch for this class.
