Writing workshop Charlie Itzin 2nd & 4th Wednesday of the month 6:00-8:00 pm Meeting via Zoom SUNY Oswego English Instructor, Charles Itzin, leads this bi monthly workshop. Given a suggested topic or one of the students’ own choice, participants bring their work and read to the group in a supportive and learning atmosphere. With helpful suggestions and feedback the writers are able to hone their skills. Workshop is ongoing, and participants can join at any time. PRIOR CLASSES Watercolor Workshop with Sandra Sabene Sunday, October 5th 2-4pm Spend a fun Sunday afternoon at a watercolor workshop with Sandra Sabene, artist and author of "Creating with Spirit" Sandra will be teaching a Fall themed watercolor project for any skill level. This ties in with her new book as a lesson in our connection to the rhythm in nature. It’s one of the 100+ activities in the book that help us calm our fears and enjoy creative experiences.
What you’ll learn:
Basic and advanced techniques using watercolors.
Which brushes work best for line work and how to use them to their fullest.
Foundational wash and lifting techniques.
How to play with paint and discover your personal style using color and textures.

Neurotangles Workshop Joanne Howard Sunday, July 13, 1 - 3 pm Come and learn how to doodle with your mind. Neuro-tangle” is the practice of combining Neurographic Art with Zentangle art forms. Neurographic art is a structured yet free-flowing method of creating organic, neuron-like lines and shapes. Developed by Russian psychologist Pavel Piskarev in 2014, it is generally considered an effective form of art therapy. The Zentangle Method is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and a fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns. These patterns are called tangles. In this relaxing workshop we’ll explore both art forms and ways to combine them creatively. All ages are welcome; children under 12 should attend with a participating adult.

Celebrate the upcoming Valentine's Day with our Decoupage Valentine Card Making workshop on Saturday, February 8 from 1-3 pm. Our cardmaking workshop will be led by artist JoAnne Howard - she will bring all materials needed. Decoupage Class JoAnne Howard Tuesday, July 23rd 11 am - 1 pm Decoupage has a long and fascinating history dating back to 12th century China. Découpage is a 20th century word which comes from the French word découpeur meaning to cut out. Paper cutouts are reassembled and designed and then glued to a plain, painted or gilded surface.
Besides being a time-honored art form, it’s incredibly fun to “paint” with paper! Today, the amazing array of papers and other decoupagable materials offer endless hours of imagination and beauty.
In this class, we will learn some basics and tricks of decoupaging, individually choose our colors, patterns, textures and designs. We will also be adding in a little stenciling to accent our creations if desired.

Kindness Counts Nancy Hale Wednesdays August 2, 16 & Sept 8 1-2:30 pm In this interactive workshop we will explore the importance of kindness---what it does for others, as well as ourselves, various ways of expressing kindness, and what interferes with being kind. In the final session we will create kindness messages to place out in our community.

It incorporates methods of design, layout of design, types of wood, tools used, various ways to carve the wood block. Black-capped Chicadee - Watercolor Painting Bob Jones Saturday, June 11th 10:00 am to 1:00 pm This class is designed for individuals that have never painted, done a little, or done some but could use some guidance. The overall theme of the class is to have fun and be creative. Watercolor paints, brushes, paper and related resources will be provided for the class. If you have your own paints and related items feel free to bring them.
No drawing experience or artistic skill required. Through demonstrations and individual, hands-on help, you will learn some basic watercolor techniques. Topics presented in the class will include composition, color theory, watercolor painting techniques, vignette, and masking. The class will work on one or two small paintings that will be either 5 x 7 or 6 x 6. You will guided through the steps to complete the finished painting on Arches140 lb cold pressed paper and Winsor Newton Cotman watercolor pigments.
