Writing workshop Charlie Itzin Ongoing (6:00-8:00 PM) 2nd & 4th Wednesday of month SUNY Oswego English Instructor, Charles Itzin, leads this bi monthly workshop. Given a suggested topic or one of the students’ own choice, participants bring their work and read to the group in a supportive and learning atmosphere. With helpful suggestions and feedback the writers are able to hone their skills. Workshop is ongoing, and participants can join at any time. Free to members

Just in time for Valentine's Day, Valerie Manning will be holding a card-making class on February 9. No experience is necessary, Valerie is a wonderful teacher and brings all the supplies. For the character carving class a block of wood would be cut to size for each student. Teacher would have a basic character ready drawn on the block. then show the general procedure of cutting the character from the wood. The cutting would be done with a whittling knife or a folding knife. Teacher would also show safety procedures and process for sharpening the knife.
Drawing Class I Debra Rose Weekly on Wednesdays Sept 19 - Oct 17 4-6 p.m. 4 sessions: Fair Haven Arts Center -- Wednesday Sept 19, Sept 26, Oct 3 & Oct 17 -- from 4 to 6 pm If you like to draw, if you don’t like to draw, if you haven’t drawn since you were a kid, if you are afraid of drawing – this fundamental class is for you! All you need is a sincere interest in drawing and a willingness to do some interesting, fun and possibly even challenging exercises designed to free up your eye, mind and hand!
Along the way, participants will be introduced to some basic tools and practices of drawing. This will include exploring and experiencing what it is to “see as an artist” – a different “seeing” than most of us use, or even need to use, in our daily life. Materials for the first session will be provided. For the second session: participants will need drawing pad (18x24 or 14x17) and charcoal. Arrangements will be made during first class. Paint with Friends - Open Studio Paula Fahy Weekly on Thursdays thru October 25, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. We are hosting a "Paint with Friends" workshop. All Mediums welcomed. No experience is necessary. Bring your watercolor or acrylic paints and supplies and join us for an Open Studio. Although there will be no formal instruction in these sessions, several FHAC members will be there to help you and Bob Jones will be participating in some of the sessions. Some basic supplies are available for those who wish to try out painting. These sessions are free to FHAC members and just $5 for non-members. Registration is not required, just show up and have fun. So why not give it a try!

The block printing class would entail drawing basic shape on flat block cutting the shape lines and using tools and safety procedures. then a class on inking the block and printing on paper or fabric. Using water based ink. Cost for 3 classes $45 (includes supplies) Register by June 9th. Ages 18+
Watercolor Painting - Exploring and Organizing Colors – Bob Jones Thursday, June 14, 2018 (10:00 am - 1:00 pm)
This class is designed for individuals that have done some watercolor painting but want to learn more about colors. Topics in this class will include using a color wheel, color relationships, and suggestions of overall color management. Winsor Newton Cotman watercolors, brushes, watercolor paper and related resources will be provided for the class. If you have you own colors and related resources feel free to bring them. Through demonstrations and individual and hands-on help you will create a color wheel using three primary colors of your choice. You will also create six small paintings that will help you explore creative approaches of working with watercolors pigments. Class Size: 12 Register by June 12th. Cost: $30.00
Painting with Pastel Chalk Sandra Dowie Sunday, June 24th 2 - 4 pm
Students will learn blending of colors, complimentary colors and the color wheel. They will produce their own original pastel drawing. All materials and aprons will be supplied. Instructions on how to blend pastels. Lots of patterns to choose from. From beginner to advance skill. Something for everyone. Register by June 22nd. Cost $25 includes materials
Creative Techniques and Introduction to Solar Painting Bob Jones Thursday, June 28, 2018 (10:00 am to 1:00 pm) No experience necessary! You will produce a one of a kind watercolor painting! This class will explore playing with colors and using a variety of creative techniques that could be used in your paintings. Techniques will include salt, masking, wax resist, spattering, flinging, washes, backruns, blossoms, lifting, spray water, scraping, sponging, bubble wrap, paper towels, and more. As a second part of this class there will overview and handouts about solar painting techniques and procedures that you could try at home. Class Size: 12 Cost: $30.00 Register by June 26th.
